I want to inspire all employees to draw on all available knowledge in everything they do.
Most managers believe that knowledge management and sharing will happen if they establish a central library for all documents with a proper search engine, which is what they call their intranet or knowledge management system.
To me, knowledge management is much broader. It is the culture of the organization. How easy it is to find and contact other people with relevant knowledge.? How you reduce barriers for collaboration and how you introduce mechanisms that motive employees to collaborate? How you engage stakeholders outside of the organization, for example customers, to co-create value?
Knowledge management must be UNBOSSed just like any other function in the company. I am particularly focused on leadership and how we can inspire young people to become better leaders of tomorrow’s knowledge-based organizations. My engagement and focus in World Scouting is yet one example of this intention of mine.
