Lars Kolind has a M.Sc. degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Århus University in 1972 and a commercial degree (HD in Organizational Science) from Copenhagen Business School in 1977.

Lars Kolind is among the first that attended the Danish public sector Advanced Management training course, KIOL Executive 1, in 1984.

He became an associate professor of planning theory at the Copenhagen University 1977-82 and he has been a visiting professor at several universities since then.

In 2012 Lars Kolind became Master of Leadership and Strategy at DeTao Masters Academy in China.
